There are many ways to get involved with EQUIPS. Some members may simply wish to ‘keep an eye out’ for events and resources. If so, ensure you’re signed up to the mailing list and save this website to your favourites or bookmarks bar. You can also follow us on X @EQUIPSIrl, Bluesky and LinkedIn.
If you’d like to become more actively involved with the work of EQUIPS, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. See below for details, or reach out to the Network Manager.
EQUIPS aims to coordinate research in Ireland, to minimise duplication and research waste. If you have recently conducted research related to Quality and/or Patient Safety of relevance to the Irish context, share the details using this form for our database, and sharing with the research network.
EQUIPS aims to serve as a ‘knowledge brokerage forum’. This means it aims to connect academics, patient partners, and knowledge users with similar interests. If you’re looking to form a PPI group for your research, you’ve identified a research priority in your healthcare work you want an academic to support, you’re looking to implement some of your research findings, or something else entirely, complete the below form to advertise your QPS opportunity on our website. We just ask that you’re signed up to our mailing list, and that you acknowledge the network in any relevant publications, so we can keep track of the impact we’ve had. See the resources page for an exemplar statement.
EQUIPS can share news of relevant events organised by our network members on our website – use this form.

EQUIPS has three ‘strands’. Strands are made up of all stakeholder types. Each strand has a Knowledge User Leader, Research Leaders, and a Patient Partner Leader. Strands meet approximately every three months for two hours and are responsible (in collaboration with the EQUIPS Operations Team) for delivering the EQUIPS work programme. Sometimes task groups will be established to facilitate this, which may require additional meetings.
See the ‘EQUIPS’ Work’ page for details of strand tasks. If you are interested in a particular activity, email equips@tcd.ie with the strand and task number in the subject line.
There are specific vacancies at the strand level for a Patient Partner Lead for Strand 1, and a Task Leader for 1.5 ‘Capacity’.
EQUIPS embraces the mantra of ‘nothing about us without us’, meaning research should (as much as possible) include patients. As such, EQUIPS has a ‘Patient Partner’ Advisory Group (much like a Public and Patient Involvement or ‘PPI’, Group). The Patient Partner Advisory Group meets approximately every six
months, to discuss the work being conducted in the strands, make suggestions to the EQUIPS work programme (e.g., suggestions for events). Patient Partners will be given opportunities to provide feedback on research activities, such as grant applications and protocols.
We are currently growing our patient partner advisory group. If you are interested, please contact equips@tcd.ie.
EQUIPS is eager to learn from existing best practice produced by similar networks. If you’re interested in showcasing evidence-based research produced by a network you’re involved with, or working together, contact equips@tcd.ie.
Is there something specific you’d like to see from the group in terms of training, or events? If so, please complete this short membership survey. It takes around five minutes to complete.
